A loon floats over a body of water containing fish and a snapping turtle with a coniferous forest backdrop. This screenprint is three layers of ink, with white space being utilized to create the loon, while simultaneously boosting the foreground colors of greens and blues. The loon eye I apply by hand with red water-based ink, and on occasion with a red Posca paint marker.

My fascination with water fowl began with the most unexpected, ghostly wail I have ever heard when I visited New England for the first time in 2014 and spotted my first Loon. The Loon's call is my favorite water bird call, and it opened the doors to seeking out other water birds, and inspired this art!
